In addition to the new lens I mentioned in my previous post, I also found a nice autofocus point and shoot camera on ebay. It is a Konica Lexio 70 from the year 2000. It has an automatic film advance mechanism as well as a built in flash. I love it. There is a sliding door to open up the lens and it makes a satisfying whirring when zooming.

Mainly I wanted to get a point and shoot film camera because sometimes I don't feel like taking my SLR everywhere. The SLR is bulky, taking pictures with it takes time as I have to fiddle with the knobs and consider the lighting. With the autofocus point and shoot I don't have to worry about any of that. It's right in the name. Point, and shoot.

The camera came right on the day of a party I was going to. Excited to test the new camera out, I decided to try something new and got some Kodak Gold film. Man, the color tones on that film stock are great. I probably didn't need to get relatively nicer film just to document my night out and test the new camera, but it felt nice to use nonetheless.

I got to spend the evening and next morning out with my dear friend and we took some wonderful photos. One of the things I appreciate most about this new camera is the built in flash. I had previously had some trouble using the external flash on the hot shoe mount of my SLR. Eventually I discovered it was an issue with the flash sync on my shutter. The shutter and flash would not release at the same time, resulting in half the image being obscured by the shutter.

With the Lexio, I didn't have to deal with any of that external junk or waste time fiddling with dials. I love all that stuff, don't get me wrong, but the point and shoot camera is perfect for capturing moments on film without having to deal with the whole manual adjustment of equipment thing. I got some fun pictures here and had a great time taking them.

TIPS: Change the current image using the buttons on the side or the arrow keys!
